Maria Menounos and pro partner Derek Hough went out like champions even though they fell short of winning ABC’s ‘Dancing With the Stars” in last night’s competition. Hough called her a “champion of life.”
Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins seemed like the odds on favorite to be eliminated because of her stumble with pro partner, Mark Ballas during Monday night’s competition.
Although they finished third on the night, Jenkins may have generated a sympathy vote that saved her from elimination and put Menounos on the bubble.
The competition among the final four, which includes Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd and Latin pretty boy William Levy, has been close.
All of the couples showed exceptional agility on the dance floor, making it one of the closest competitions in the show’s history.
Menounos, who works as a correspondent on “Extra TV” has been complaining of injuries for most of the season.
The 33-year-old presenter suffered broken ribs and a hurt foot. Hough also suffered a minor back injury. That may have weighed on their performances.
“I want to obviously thank Derek because I wouldn’t have gotten this far without his awesome choreography,” said Menounos after the results were announced. “I love him and I can’t thank him enough for making this experience what it’s been for me.”
“She’s a warrior,” Hough said.
