AnnaSophia Robb looks spunky and sexy in a new trailer for “The Carrie Diaries.” It’s just as you’d expect “Sex and the City’s” Carrie Bradshaw to be as a teen in high school.
The show, which will air on the CW network in January, takes Carrie back to her senior year in a New York City high school in 1984. Yes, the girls are preoccupied with sex.
But guess what? The future sex advice columnist is a virgin! Couldn’t just let that storyline slide without some serious drama over the course of a few episodes.
The CW series has big shoes to fill. Sex and the City, based on Candace Bushnell’s young adult novels, was a smash series for HBO and carried over into two successful movies.
With network upfronts in full swing for the Fall season, the CW unveiled the first extended trailer. Like the HBO show, the trailer opens with a shot of the New York City skyline and Carrie providing the voice-over.
The trailer popped up online but Warner Bros. has been sweeping the Internet with takedown notices to any site with the footage.
“The year 1984. It’s always the same dream. Manhattan is mine,” she says. It really is a dream. She wakes up and goes off to school in a pink hoodie with a blouse and skirt.
She looks suitable sexy in a dress with a turquoise jacket. Doesn’t look like she’s doing much shopping at the bargain barn, but no word yet on what role fashion and expensive designer clothes will play in Carrie’s life.
In any event, Carrie lands an internship in Manhattan. God knows how she’ll afford it. Oh.. she hooks up with a fashion model who sets her up for a night of clubbing.
If only making it in New York were that simple.
