Chris Brown Draws High Profile Critics for Billboard Lip-Syncing

Chris Brown’s Billboard Music Award performance of his song “Turn Up the Music,” was soured in the view of some keen-eyed critics because he lip-synced the song while dancing.

The fake singing may have escaped most viewers but not veteran performer Alecia Beth Moore, better known as “Pink.” She spotted it right away and didn’t think too much of it.

Pink is also known for her athletic, high-energy stage performances, but she says she has always sung live while she dance. “One day, if i lipsync, i hope i do it as well as him…” Pink tweeted during the show, damning Brown with faint praise.

“Im pretty sure i saw my wife did that same performance, but she was three months pregnant and actually sang the song,” added husband Cary Hart.

Brown’s act included four BMX bicycle riders on a ramp behind the main state.

As it so happens, Pink performed a very similar routine with BMX bikes when she sang “Raise Your Glass” at the 2010 American Music Awards. Pink incidentally, was named Billlboard’s performer of the decade in 2010.

Katy Perry’s performance of “Wide Awake,” from a trapeze with acrobats was also similar to a Pink performance where she used the same type of trapeze.

But Cary made clear he wasn’t referring to the similarities between the two acts. “For the record; i luv me some Katy, so y’all can jump off that run away train, k? i stand behind, always have and always will, LIVE SINGING.”

If you watch Brown’s performance carefully there are a few spots where his lips don’t quite match up with the music. Check it out below and Pink’s performance.
