Tom Hardy as the evil Bane opens the fourth television commercial for “The Dark Knight Rises,” but it doesn’t take long to cut to Anne Hathaway and Christian Bale in their gala dance scene.
In this spot, Hathaway, who plays Catwoman, is posing as her alter ego Selina Kyle and dancing with Bale’s Bruce Wayne. “There’s a storm coming, Mr. Wayne,” she purrs.
The clip offers a quick glimpse of the storm when a hood is removed from Bane’s head while he’s captive in an airplane. “Who are you!?” a voice shouts off screen. The scene quickly cuts to familiar shots of Gotham City destruction.
Then, Batman as Bruce Wayne appears again, looking like he’s been through a wringer. His trusted butler Alfred Pennyworth, played by Michael Caine, kindly reminds him: “You’re not Batman anymore.”
But obviously Bruce still thinks there’s a little Batman left in him, especially with Bane descending on the city.
Batman faces is biggest challenge ever, and his fate remains unknown.
The blockbuster Marvel comics movie “The Avengers,” which has topped $1 billion in box office gross, suggests that the latest Batman movie could pick up where Iron Man, Thor, Capt. America and other Avengers superheroes leave off.
The movie opens July 20 in IMAX but not 3-D. Check out the spot below:
