When Carly Rae Jepsen sings her YouTube hit “Call Me, Maybe,” it’s hard not to sing along. Just ask President Obama and now Jimmy Fallon and The Roots. The late night host jammed with Jepsen.
Katy Perry, Ashley Tisdale and her new boyfriend, Martin Johnson, actress Sammy Droke, former “Hanna Montana” star Mateo Arias and Big Time Rush’s Logan Henderson, Kendall Schmidt and Carlos Pena, also made a video tribute to the Canadian singer.
In 2007, she placed third in the fifth season of “Canadian Idol,” and was a part of the “Canadian Idol Top 3” concert tour. Jepsen’s second album Curiosity was released in February and she debuted on American television on “The Ellen DeGeneres” show a month later.
Since her song went viral on the Internet, Jepsen has racked up more than 30 million views, making her an unqualified Internet sensation. She’s also gotten some lift from fellow Canadian Justin Bieber, who is promoting her.
Jepsen, 26, stopped by “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” last night (June 7), and they guys got behind her with a mix of instruments, from a kazoo and bongos, to a big bass drum to accompany her. Fallon sang back up vocals as well.
Any way you play it, the song just grabs you. Check it out below.
