Shia LaBeouf and dancer Denna Thomsen shed all of their inhibitions in a daringly bare video about a man and woman “locked in a never-ending cycle of addiction and desire.”
The video, for their song “Fjögur Píanó,” is by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós. The song comes from the band’s album Valtari.
Normally, the band doesn’t make many headlines outside of Iceland. But the avant garde nature of the video and LaBeouf’s appearance have created global interest, even though it’s the third in a series.
LaBeouf, 26, an Thomsen struggle with their passions and their demons in the eight-and-a-half-minute short film, part of what’s called “The Valtari Mystery Film Experiment.”
Alma Har’el directed and Ryan Heffington choreographed the shoot which features both performers in full-frontal nudity. The video also features an octopus, lollipops and surreal images.
LaBeouf collaborated on the concept with Har’el, according to Band bassist Georg Holm who called the video “absolutely amazing.”
“The idea is to bypass the usual artistic approval process and allow people utmost creative freedom,” the band said in a statement.
