Obama Hits Up Young Hollywood on Fundraising Foray

Obama Hits Up Young Hollywood on Fundraising Foray 1President Barack Obama, likely to be outspent in the general election by Republican opponent Mitt Romney, is heading back to Hollyood to raise more money. This time young celebrities are kicking in.

Jared Leto, Johnny Galecki, from the hit show “The Big Bang Theory,” and sexy Oliva Wilde are among Young Hollywood celebrities who are on board to raise funds for the president.

David Fincher, Darren Aronofsky and singer Peter Frampton are leading the effort, called “Gen44.” The fundraiser will take place June 29 in Los Angeles, according to deadline.

The Obama campaign raised a record-breaking $15 million at a private $40,000 a seat dinner at actor George Clooney’s LA house on May 10. Since then, Obama has had four more fundraisers.

Top Obama officials said today (June 20) they now expect to be outspent by their Republican counterparts in the general election. The presumptive Republican nominee is expected to raise more than $100 million in June and more than $1 billion for the election, those officials told reporters.

Needless to say, Hollywood has been one of the biggest sources of his campaign funds.

Among other stars opening their pocketbooks are Maria Bello, Zach Braff, former “Friday Night Lights” star Connie Britton, Sophia Bush, “The Game” author Neil Strauss and Jim Toth, according to deadline.

In New York City, Sarah Jessica Parker hosted a dinner for the president that drew Manhattan glitterati. Mariah Carey also hosted gala at the Plaza Hotel in New York, June 14
