Selena Gomez added some gloss as well as insight to a media conference in France. She participated on a panel with some media bigwigs about the future of creativity. Who knew?
Selena showed she had enough intellectual horsepower to hold her own in the discussion with Viacom president and Chief Executive Philippe Dauman, MTV president Stephen Friedman and producer and director Jon Chu, who helmed Justin Bieber’s “Never Say Never.”
The Viacom Seminar panel discussion on “Millennials and the Future of Creativity,” was held at the International Festival of Creativity. Gomez related her experience with fan devotion during the time she starred on Disney show “The Wizards of Waverley Place.”
“Lauren was my very first fan ever and she came to every taping of my show on Wizards when it wasn’t even airing and nobody cared about it and nobody came to the tapings,” the 19-year-old star said.
“She was amazing. I remember I met her then after season three and our show had won two Emmys and she was still there. It was incredible that you can see the following and you are able to remember those people through that,” she added, according to a video of the event.
Gomez is dating pop singer Bieber, and it’s clear who has the brains in that relationship. Bieber was upbraided on national television by David Letterman last week for calling the Sistine Chapel the “Sixteenth Chapel.” Fortunately, he has other talents.
Millennials, incidentally, are people born between 1980 and 2000. Obviously, the make up today’s teenage population, a marketer’s dream.
Let’s hope most can hold a conversation as well as Selena. Check out the video below:
