Lady Gaga Reveals New Song on Tour (watch!)

Lady Gaga Reveals New Song on Tour (watch!) 1Lady Gaga went into a deep, dark place inside her own head to come up with a new song, and it’s far from cheery. She plumbs the depths of her suicidal thoughts in a eerie tribute to Lady Diana.

“This song is a little bit sad,” Lady Gaga said Tuesday night when she played it for the first time before crowd in Melbourne. That may be an understatement.

The first line of the song is “Leave the coffin open when I go.”

Entitled “Princess Die,” she sings about the difference between outward appearances and the black hole of insecurity and fear that often drives individuals to extreme behavior.

“This song may or may not be on my next album,” she said to squeals in the audience. She said she wrote it some time ago and “never ever” played it for anyone. She added that she decided to play it because of all the “super fans” at the show.

Princess Diana immediately comes to mind as the inspiration for the song. She led a glittery life as the wife of Prince Charles in England, but was deeply tormented inside, and suffered from eating disorders and thoughts of suicide.

But Gaga let it be known that the title was spelled “D-i-e.” Even so, Gaga has always had a fascination about English Royalty and Princess Diana in particular. Here are some of the lyrics from the song:

I wish that I was strong
I wish that I was wrong
I wish that I could cope
But I took pills and left a note
I’m hungry from an anorexic heart
I’ve been trying to tell you how I feel
But was never very smart
I’m wrapped in silks made for egyptian queens
I’ll do it in the swimming pool
So everybody sees

Gaga will rap up the Australian leg of her world tour the first week in July and head to Europe, starting on August 14th. Her new album is in the works, and she made clear that the song is “in no way reflective” of the rest of the music on the album.
