Kim Kardashian is determined to win Beyonce’s friendship and to spend almost anything to make it happen, according to new reports. But a lavish gift for daughter Blue Ivy may have had the opposite effect.

Kim scored a breakthrough in their relationship, at least in the public’s eye, when she and the 30-year-old singer partied together at a Watch the Throne concert in Birmingham, England.

Kim’s new boyfriend, rapper Kanye West is best friends with Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z and they are on tour together. But Bey has been reluctant to be seen with Kim for fear of becoming part of the reality star’s constant media circus.

She also wants to avoid appearing as a prop in Kim’s reality series “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” West has already been drafted to appear in some episodes. But Kim is determined to break the ice, the only way she knows how… to spend money, according to The National Enquirer.

The sat together at the BET Awards show, but Beyonce kept Kim at a distance, separated by West and Jay-Z, which sent a pretty clear message about their relationship.

To break the ice, Kim reportedly spent $5,000 on a diamond-studded baby bracelet for Beyonce and Jay-Z’s 6-month-old daughter Blue Ivy. As a reminder of where it came from, she had “Love Auntie Kim” engraved on the piece.

Beyonce welcomed the gesture, but was turned off by the engraving. “They have been friends for five minutes, but already Kim is trying to force herself into Beyonce’s life,” a source told the tabloid. “She thought it was over the top, considering that she’s known Kim personally for such a short time.”

In the end, it may come down to a matter of trust. Beyonce is concerned Kim will use her for publicity and to hype her own celebrity status. She doesn’t want to get suckered into that.
