Kanye West finally gets his Kodak moment on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” The rap star will debut on Monday’s episode in scenes from New York were Kim Kardashian and the clan are getting together for a night out.
This is the payoff both have been waiting for. Kim will likely get a major ratings boost as curiosity seekers tune in to see Kanye on the show.
Kanye, who has never shied away from the spotlight, will get a whole new medium to promote himself. What remains to be seen is how Kim’s new squeeze will be portrayed.
Kim’s estranged husband basketballer Kris Humphries said he was manipulated by Kim and producers to do and say things that were out of character for him, simply to create drama on the show. For her part, Kim says she plans to low-key the relationship.
“I’m not going to be taking a bubble bath and drinking champagne or on a sex swing [on camera] like Khloe and Lamar do,” the reality star told E! News. “It’s not going to be like that.”
Indeed, husbands and baby daddies, are often portrayed as bumblers, dopes and screw ups compared with the Kardashians to create story lines.
Kourtney Kardashian’s long-suffering baby daddy Scott Disick often comes off looking like a whiner, shirker and drunk. Khloe Kardashian’s husband Lamar has all but ruined his basketball career because of the show.
In a seek peek of the upcoming episode, Kanye can been seen slinking into Kim’s hotel room in New York while she’s getting ready to attend the opening of Disick’s RYU restaurant in New York’s trendy Meatpacking District.
He looks sheepish and awkward in front of the cameras, but comes to Kim’s rescue when she can’t decide what to wear. “I am so happy Kanye is coming with me to Scott’s restaurant opening,” Kim says. “I don’t want to make a big fuss about it — we’re just hanging out.”
Right. As Rick told Capt. Renault in “Casablanca:” “I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”
