Jimmy Kimmel Asks Celebs to Read Their Hateful Tweets (watch!) 1Jimmy Kimmel has one-upped his late-night talk show rivals with a hilarious bit on hateful Internet Tweets. Here’s the twist. He’s been asking his celebrity guests to read hateful tweets about themselves.

Kimmel asked Katy Perry, Danny McBride, James Van Der Beek, Zoey Deschanel, Larry King and David Spade and Kristen Stewart among others to read their nasty tweets.

“I liked Kristen Stewart more when she was a boy,” the “Twilight” star deadpanned.

In the segment, Kimmel opens with a monologue about YouTube’s effort to get people who post comments to use their real names in a bid to cut down on the number of nasty comments.

“Theoretically, this would cut down on the number of vicious comments. But I don’t know, our Internet was built on a foundation of unnecessarily cruel and vicious attacks from hateful, nameless, bearded former Blockbuster clerks,” he said.

“What kind of world is this if you can’t anonymously attack a mother who posted a video of her laughing baby?” he added. “What happened to our privacy, you know?”

Kimmel noted that Twitter has also become a channel for hateful, snarky comments because of its direct connection with celebrities. “Some people write very harsh things to famous people without even thinking about the fact that they are people. What you don’t see when you send a nasty tweet is that it can actually cause pain.”

So here are some stars reciting their hateful tweets, for “your amusement and hopefully for reflection,” Kimmel said. Check out the video below.
