Can Miley Cyrus Defy Odds and Marry Liam Hemsworth? (photos)

Miley Cyrus is another young Hollywood star who has found “love” early in her life. Can she top Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart and marry Liam Hemsworth? Or will they break up, too?

Miley, 19, seems determined to make her relationship with the 22-year-old “Hunger Games” star as meaningful as possible.

“I don’t really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we’ve made to each other. And we want to have a long engagement,” she told Marie Claire magazine in a new interview.

She seems like she’s making all the right moves, but Miley and Liam face the same pressures as other young Hollywood couples. They include long periods apart, the constant press of publicity, clashing career ambitions and as always, major egos.

Selena Gomez, 19, and Justin Bieber, 18, Hollywood’s other reigning young couple have had their problems. But so far they remain together. Justin, however, is read to go out on tour.

“Twilight” stars Rob, 26, and Kristen, 22, were held up as the ultimate Hollywood couple. But Kristen’s cheating scandal tore them apart after four years together. Both were obviously too young and too unsettled in their careers to make it together.

Miley, however, blows off criticism she is too young. “Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with,” she told the magazine “Liam and I have a really good relationship…neither of us is super-jealous. We know each other and would never do anything to hurt each other.”

Rob probably felt the same way about Kristen. He called her his “soulmate” and the only person who could relate to his phenomenal life.

Miley revealed that Hemsworth, a native of Australia, surprised her with the marriage proposal. Her parents were totally in the dark. Maybe not a good thing, although dad Billy Ray Cyrus has approved of the marriage… just not too soon.
