Taylor Swift Makes Big Investment in Kennedy Camelot

Taylor Swift is overwhelmed by Kennedy fever. She bought a seven-bedroom mansion across from the famous Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, even though she’s only been dating Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s son, Conor Kennedy for a short while. At least she got a bargain on the place.

The house was initially listed at $13.5 million, but in the depressed real estate market the 1928 home didn’t sell. Besides who wants to live next door to the Kennedys?

Swift reportedly paid around $5 million for the property, a whopping 60 percent price reduction.

Swift is plunging headlong into the relationship, despite the feared Kennedy curse, which has seen marriages ruined by sex scandals and young lives lost due to accidents and assassination.

Swift was spotted on Cape Cod, a summer redoubt for Boston’s well-to-do for generations, earlier this month. She was photographed sailing with Kennedy family members and evoked images of a young Jacqueline Kennedy, who was married to RFK Jr’s uncle President John F. Kennedy.

The country singer, who normally splits her time between Los Angeles and Nashville was reported to have paid another visit to the Cape this weekend.

The house is situated on Nantucket Sound and the property includes a private beach and a guest house, according to a real estate listing. The road leading to the house is private and is equipped to post a security guard at the entrance.

“It’s in a beautiful location and right across the street from Conor and the Kennedys,” a real estate agent told People. “It’s a beautiful home. She got a nice home, paid fair price. The house was on the market for two to four years.”

The Kennedy compound was first established by family patriarch Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., as he grew rich he bought up more land and raised his nine children there. Photos of the Kennedy boys playing touch football on the expansive land are legendary. JFK and Bobby also bought property there.

The sprawling compound comes with a swimming pool, tennis courts, a private cinema, wine cellar and two guest houses. The compound, however, is mired in a family feud. Following the death of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy i9n 2009, his widow Vicky donated the main house to set up a non-profit learning center in Ted’s name.

The remaining Kennedy clan have been effectively banned from the house, itself a sprawling mansion. Kennedy family members now have to pay rent to use the facility or stay off the property, according to the Boston Globe newspaper.

Swift stepped into the middle of the latest Kennedy scandal when she started dating Conor. His mother, Mary Richardson Kennedy, committed suicide in May amid a bitter divorce with Bobby Kennedy Jr. Taylor has reportedly been helping console Conor, one of four children by Mary.
