Robert Pattinson: No Kristen Stewart Talk on Jon Stewart

Robert Pattinson was nervous, awkward and clearly had no plans to discuss Kristen Stewart outside of a feeble attempt at a joke during his appearance on the Jon Stewart’s  “Daily Show” on Comedy Central.

Stewart made a little play on the scandal by bringing out some ice cream and askng Pattinson to have a “man-to-man” talk. But the joke didn’t loosen Rob’s lips.

Stewart for his part tried a little cat and mouse, but got nowhere, according to people who saw the show. “How are you doing?” he asked.

“I intend not to say anything,” the heartbroken Pattinson, 26, countered.

“I wish you the best, these things happen when you’re young,” said a sympathetic Stewart.

The interview was the first since Stewart, 22, was captured by a paparazzi in the arms of Snow White and the Huntsman” Director Rupert Sanders, 42. The two were passionately making out and apparently had been having an affair for weeks if not months.

Outside the studio, many of his fans whistled, booed and cursed when Pattinson’s SUV blew past them without stopping and pulled into a garage, according to gossip site TMZ.

“Kristen’s name was never even mentioned and it definitely seemed like Jon was giving him a break,” one audience member told Us Weekly. “Jon brought out the ice cream for him and Rob to eat, almost like Jon was feeding it to Rob to help him get through a breakup . . .

“Jon didn’t ask anything about Kristen but it was obvious that was what the ice cream was for.”

“Rob was just really awkward and acting kind of nervous,” the witness said.

“The world has ended!” Jon quipped.

“It has,” said Rob before adding: “That was my attempt at a joke,” according to reports.

Officially, Rob was on the show to promote his latest movie “Cosmopolis,” which premiered tonight (Aug. 13) in New York.

Before the show Stewart tweeted: “@MittRomney picks Robert Pattinson for VP! Wait…are we mixing that up?”
