Kanye West gave Kim Kardashian a big shout out in DJ Khaled’s song “Theraflu.” Now she gets a small part, measured in seconds, in the song’s new video to cover the part where West disses estranged husband Kris Humphries.
West is featured on the song with Rick Ross. It was released in April while Kim was being battered in the media over her 72-day marriage and West’s relationship with her was still in the rumor stage.
The song contains the lines:
“I’ll admit I fell in love with Kim
’round the same time she fell in love with him.
Well that’s cool, baby girl, do your thang
He’s just lucky I ain’t had Jay drop him from the team.”
Of course that was before Humphries wrapped up a career season, posting his best numbers ever, 13 rebounds and 13 points a game. He scored a two-year $24 million deal in July from Jay-Z’s team, now called the Brooklyn Nets. Actually, the rapper is a minority owner and has no power to hire or fire players.
With new contract in hand, Humphries had a little fun at West’s expense. “I’m up at Brooklyn!” he Tweeted “@S_C_ ‘lucky I didn’t have Jay drop me from the team” lol!’ @S_C_ is one of Jay-Z’s twitter accounts.
Khaled was later forced by the makers of Therflu cold remedy to drop the name for infringing on their copyright. The song has been renamed “I Wish You Would/Way Too Cold.”
The video is shot in black and white in a brick-lined tunnel with heavy strobe light action. Kim appears for about a second at the 5:11 mark wrapped in West’s arms, wearing a hooded cloak.
She pops back in again three seconds later, in a little tighter shot, for another second. Then, reappears for her one-second close up at 5:17, for a sum total of three seconds, probably the shortest cameo in history. In the close up, she has a smirk on her face.
