Kristen Stewart Shocker: Kicked to Curb on Snow White Sequel

Kristen Stewart Shocker: Kicked to Curb on Snow White Sequel 1Kristen Stewart has reportedly been dropped from the planned sequel to “Snow White and the Huntsman,” in a dramatic move by Universal Studios that seems unwarranted. She may be damaged goods, but not that damaged.

The 22-year-old actress has borne the brunt of negative fallout from her affair with Snow White Director Rupert Sanders, who is married with two kids and twice her age.

The fact that boyfriend of four years Robert Pattinson has refused, so far, to discuss her, let alone reconcile with her, is also damaging her brand. But she still has loyal supporters and would hardly be a film killer.

But Universal may also be weighing Stewart’s hefty price tag for a sequel in the face of the movie’s mediocre returns at the box office. The film grossed $389.2 million worldwide against a $170 million budget, respectable, but no Avengers, or even X-Men for that matter.

Whatever the case, Stewart will not be invited to return if the follow-up goes forward, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a usually reliable source on film industry news.

The movie was a retelling of the Grimm Bros. fairy tale with Stewart in the lead role as Snow White along with Charlize Theron as the wicked witch and Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman, who was a competing Snow White love interest with … who played the prince.

With Stewart out of the picture, the move begs the question whether Sanders will be back to direct. His wife, UK model Liberty Ross, reportedly refused to let him direct another movie if Stewart was reprising her character. So far, no word from Universal.

“The studio is currently exploring options to continue the franchise,” a Universal spokeswoman told THR. If the film goes forward it will reportedly focus on the huntsman as the main character.

In the wake of the sex scandal, Stewart apparently is also reassessing her career. There have been reports that she dropped out of the movie “Cali,” but she has not spoken publicly since apologizing to Pattinson for her indiscretion on July 17.

The original plan, according to sources cited by THR, was to make two films about Snow White, while the third would be a spin-off featuring the Huntsman.
