Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift are pitching in to help lift the economy a bit, even if President Obama can’t, by promoting Fashion Night Out, the industry’s annual extravaganza shopping event.
Celebrities, models and other fashionistas will gather Sept. 6, for events around the United States and in nearly two dozen other countries to promote sales at retailers.
Last year’s bash featured more than 4,500 events nationwide, according to the event’s Web site. The events will feature pecial limited-edition products, celebrity appearances and live performances.
Events will be held across New York City, including Manhattan and other boroughs. Among those participating will be stores such as Agent Provocateur, Ann Taylor, Chloe, DKNY and Juicy Couture. Noticeably absent from the list is Kim Kardashian’s and sister’s Dash Boutique.
The event was created in 2009 to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy during the recession, and put the fun back in shopping,” according to the site.
Bieber and Swift were enlisted to make a promo video. Justin goes first touting the event, with Taylor joining him to point out it’s worldwide now. “Who doesn’t want to meet models…right?” says Justin.
