Watson, 23, has been the center of attention at the film festival for her remarkable transformation into a high-glamour Hollywood A-Lister.
“The Bling Ring,” about a gang of low-class Beverly Hills thieves, is her maturest role yet. Consider it the equivalent of “Spring Breakers,” for Selena Gomez. It establishes her as an actress who can handle more adult roles.
She is best known for her role in the “Harry Potter” movies, where she played a straight-laced wizard, Hermione Granger.

Her only roles since then have been a small part in 2011’s “My Week With Marilyn,” and a role in the ensemble movie “The Perks of Being a Wall Flower.”
In the “Bling Ring,” she plays bad girl Nicki, one of the group’s ringleaders, who has a taste for designer clothes, but doesn’t like paying for them. So she steals them from celebrity homes.
Emma posed with co-stars Katie Chang, Taissa Farmiga and Claire Julien, all of whom were decked out in glamorous gowns. Emma wore plenty of bling by Repossi.
Emma has become enmeshed in fashion and has carefully selected her Cannes outfits. On Thursday, she wore a Christopher Kane dress.
Director Sofia Coppolla also made her way down the red carpet, with co-star Israel Broussard. Coppola’s film is based on a true story about Los Angeles high school students who went on a burglary rampage in 2008, hitting the homes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and other celebrities.
