Tiger Woods is back on top of his game with a new girlfriend and No. 1 in earnings.

Tiger Woods has finally dug himself out of the deep hole he created when an explosive sex scandal ruined his marriage, his golf game and his earning power. He’s back after being declared the top earning athlete again by Forbes magazine.

Woods this year has been playing his best golf since the 2009 scandal And he’s also got a hot new blonde girlfriend, Olympic skier Lindsay Vonn.

But only now can he say he’s finally erased the scandal’s damage as corporate sponsors flock to have him endorse their products. According to the financial publication, Woods earned $78.1 million over the last 12 months. A hefty $65 million came from product endorsements.

The amount was enough for him to claim the title as the highest earning athlete, but his income is still below what he was earning before the scandal, during his storybook marriage to Swedish beauty Elin Nordegren.

From 2007 through 2009, Woods was estimate to have earned around $120 million a year, according to Golf Digest.

That world came crashing down over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2009 with the mother of his two children discovered text messages on Tiger’s phone from New York party girl Rachel Uchitel. Only days earlier, The National Enquirer reported that the two were having a torrid affair.

Woods crashed his SUV after a heated argument with his wife, igniting the scandal. In all more than a dozen women claimed to have had an affair with the golfer during his marriage.

Woods quit playing golf that December in a failed effort to repair his marriage, while several major sponsors canceled their deals with him. Woods had been the highest earning athlete for 11 consecutive years until tennis star Roger Federer aced him out of the No. 1 spot last year.
