Judge Nene Leakes asked the 21-year-old college grad to comment on the fact that women still earn less than men for equal work.
The specific question was: “A recent report shows that in 40 percent of American families with children, women are the primary earners, yet they continue to earn less than men. What does it say about society?”
“I think we can relate this back to education and how we are continuing to try to strive to…” she said, pausing to collect her thoughts, before adding “…figure out how to create jobs right now.” Passable.
But then she might have well just scratched her fingers across a chalk board.
“That is the biggest problem, and I think especially the men are seen as the leaders of this, and so we need to try to figure out how to create education better so that we can solve this problem. Thank you,” she said finishing her answer.
Ah… “create education better?” That does not compute.
Beauty pageant contestants are under the spotlight during these pageants, and the slightest flub often makes headlines. Miss South Carolina Teen Caitlin Upton learned that lesson the hard way at the 2007 Miss Teen USA pageant.
She was asked why so many Americans can’t find their country on a map.
Miss Utah’s answer is already going viral on the Internet but it has a long way to go to catch up with Caitlin’s answer, which has been viewed 52 million times.
