George Zimmerman is questioned by a Texas police officer after being pulled over for speeding.

George Zimmerman was pulled over for speeding in Texas and let off with only a warning despite the fact that he was still carrying a gun, only only two weeks after being acquitted of murdering Trayvon Martin in Florida. The stop was caught on camera.

The officer did not recognize Zimmerman, at first, despite being the object of nationwide publicity, according to local news reports.

Zimmerman was asked where he was going and replied “nowhere in particular,” which surprised the officer.

“Nowhere in particular, why is that?” the cop responded.

“You didn’t see my name?” said Zimmerman.

“Wow, what a coincidence,” the officer responded after finally recognizing him.

The officer seemed unfazed when Zimmerman opened his glove compartment and revealed his gun. The officer told him to close it up and not to display the weapon, which is a violation of Texas law.

Then, he handed Zimmerman a warning for speeding, which is unusual. Out-of-state drivers almost always get tickets for moving violations.

Martin, 17, was shot and killed by Zimmerman after an altercation in a gated Florida community where Martin lived and Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch captain.

Zimmerman was accused of second-degree murder and manslaughter, but a jury acquitted him under Florida’s controversial stand-your-ground law.

The Florida law allows anyone to use deadly force if they feel their lives are in danger. Average citizens are also allowed to carry concealed weapons.

Under Texas law, carrying a concealed weapon is permissible, as well, for those who hold what’s known as a “shall-issue” permit. Out of state residents are also required to obtain the Texas permit.

When stopped by the officer, Zimmerman was required by Texas law to inform the officer he had a gun and he was required to display his handgun license. The officer, however, never asked Zimmerman if he had a permit.

Texas recognizes Florida concealed handgun permits under a reciprocity agreement. Zimmerman still has his Florida conceal carry permit, according to his attorney.

The entire scene was caught on the officer’s dashboard mounted camera on Sunday (July 29) in Forney, Texas, about 25 miles from Dallas.
