Miley Cyrus led off a medley of contenders for the “Song of the Summer” with “We Can’t Stop” at the MTV Music Video Awards Sunday night (Aug. 25). But the music network left no doubt about what it thought of the song.

When Miley got to one of the controversial lyrics in the song, the network bleeped it out.

Cyrus, 19, kicked up a storm when the song was released, because critics claimed there were specific drug references. The first came in the first chorus.

“So la da di da di
We like to party
Dancing with Molly”

The term “Molly” is street slang for the party drug Ecstasy. The drug is also known as MDMA, an acronym of its lengthy chemical name. Molly is the name for the highest form of the drug, usually in powder or crystalline form. It creates a sense of euphoria, diminished anxiety, with mild psychedelic effects.

Miley said, at first the lyric was a reference to her name, not Molly, but later admitted she was talking about the drug.

Otherwise, Miley was totally hot as promised wearing a tight body suit with a pink teddy bear on the front. She also wore a flesh-colored undergarment to prevent any wardrobe malfunctions. Was that another MTV requirement?

She wore her short hair in tiny pig tails.

She segued into Robin Thicke’s summer hit “Blurred Lines” as he took the stage and performed a duet with her. Miley stripped down to a flesh-colored bikini to play the part of naked dancers from Thicke’s unrated video.

Miley was all about obscene gestures as Thicke sang his song.
