For the past two years, Bacon has been starring in advertisements for the UK’s largest mobile network.
The ads, by the EE mobile network have largely been playing off the popular trivia game “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” and some of his various film roles.
But the latest advert, Kevin competes with top UK television chef Jamie Oliver to make… you guessed it (or maybe not), a bacon sandwich, according to Advertising Age, which unearthed the video.
Believe it or not, the video has nothing to do with cooking, or eating. It’s designed to illustrated the speed of EE’s 4G service.
Under most circumstances Oliver would be the the likely winner hands down. But he runs into problems when he’s about to declare victory with a bite of his simple bacon sandwich. His image crashes and starts buffering.
But Kevin is traveling at EE’s 4G speed and makes the bacon sandwich to end all bacon sandwiches, starting with whole loaf of Italian bread, lettuce, tomato, steak, lobster and some bacon, egg plant and eggs. He not only whips up the sandwich but has time for a cup of coffee and a quick read.
Finally Oliver comes back online only to see Bacon’s monstrous sandwich. “What? What happened?” he says.
“Bacon don’t buffer,” Kevin replies.
