Khloe Kardashian’s Big Lie: How She Hyped Her Failing Marriage

Khloe Kardashian relentlessly hyped her marriage and the tabloids ate it up.

Khloe Kardashian relentlessly hyped her marriage and the tabloids ate it up…while it lasted.

Khloe Kardashian was the poster girl for a happy marriage as late as a year ago. Any reports to the contrary were quickly squashed by a public relations blitz. But behind the headlines it was all a lie. In retrospect, her marriage was trouble almost from the start.

Her marriage to NBA star Lamar Odom in 2009 was hasty to say the least. They dated for all of 32 days.

Yet giving marital advice became her go-to-market story, just like sister Kim Kardashian’s big butt and beauty tips.

Lamar Odom’s Sad Fall: Did Kardashians Drive Him to Drugs?

Khloe’s happy marriage was a major story line in “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and tabloid headlines. Nothing was aired on their reality show, or reported in the gossip rags about Lamar’s drug problems.

In one telling example, celebrity sycophant PerezHilton reported in Nov. 2011 how “the only successfully married reality sister” was spotted bragging about her birthday gift to Lamar, “which she so eloquently described as ‘good pussy!'”

In March a year ago, Khloe was still bragging about the secrets of her “successful” marriage. “I don’t think there is a secret, really. I believe a happy marriage is about compatibility, honesty, communication, and dedication,” she beamed to Out magazine.

The tabloids start to turn. Even normally gushing People could no longer ignore the story.

But by then, the cracks were already showing.

On a rare occasion when a gossip magazine got it right, InTouch reported in July that her marriage was in deep trouble. “When the cameras stopped rolling, [she] was plunged back into a painful new reality: a life without [Odom],” it reported.

The story touched off a furious reaction in the Kardashian camp and heated denials orchestrated by momager Kris Jenner.

When Star magazine, admittedly a sketchy source of news, raised similar claims about trouble in paradise in Oct. 2009, Khloe had personally blasted away on Twitter.

“Just wanted to share with you guys this hilarious story that Star mag wrote about Lamar’s and my marriage,” she Tweeted. “Married life is incredible and I’ve never been so happy. I feel so blessed to have Lamar and I can’t wait to spend my life with him!”

Khloe and Lamar gushed about each incessantly on Twitter. But a source claims it was all a cover up.

The gloves come off. Tabloids unload on Lamar Odom.

Verifiable cracks in the marriage surfaced when Lamar was traded to the Dallas Mavericks and Khloe was forced to move there with him. They both hated it and relations where reported to be strained.

Tabloids also speculated that the couple’s inability to have children adding stress on the marriage.

Khloe Kardashian’s Radical Overhaul to Save Marriage

In July, Lamar was apparently fed up with all the attention. He roughed up a photographer, raising more red flags. Her reality show network E! Entertainment put forth the party line. Reports of a marriage crisis were slammed as false.

Khloe blasted the paps on Twitter. “F*** the papz!!!!! You f***ing losers!!!!!”

After a brief meeting with Lamar this week she tweeted: “The Mad Hatter: Have I gone mad? Alice: I’m afraid so. You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”

Judging by recent events, however, there is a real question whether the marriage was ever happy. Lamar appears to have been deep into drugs and fooling around with other women for most of his marriage. So much for “good pussy.”

The collapse of her marriage seems so sudden and swift, only because she constantly hyped its success. The tabloid media bought into it, and she only has herself to blame now that they’re so gleefully deconstructing the myth.
