Khloe Kardashian’s marriage to Lamar Odom in 2011 was the beginning of the NBA basketball standout’s problems, according to his legendary basketball coach Phil Jackson. Lamar spiraled out of control over the summer in a weeks-long drug binge amid reports of infidelity.

Jackson was being interviewed for “The Seth Davis Show,” an Internet-based sports talk show, when the subject of Lamar and his troubles came up.

“We thought the Kardashian arrangement, or marriage, was a terrific thing for him because it was a family, it was structure, it was something that would give him support,” he said of his initial feelings about the union.

“Maybe it wasn’t,” he added.

Khloe and Lamar were married after dating for only two months. Jackson called the marriage “an arrangement.”

After two years with Khloe, Lamar was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. His teammates had complained that his appearances on the Kardashian reality shows were distracting him from baskeball. His tenure in Dallas did not go well. He was traded after one season to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Jackson also said that Lamar was a problem in the off-season when he would not train and take care of himself. “There was always suspicion that Lamar’s gone off the edge in the summertime, and we’d always bring him in,” he said.

Lamar has reportedly kicked drugs for the moment and he and Khloe are reportedly talking again, although they have yet to move back in together in their $4 million mansion.

Part One of interview ran on Oct. 28; part two will air live Friday over the website CampusInsiders.com. Check out some of the highlights below and follow TheImproper on Twitter.
