Angelina Jolie makes her first appearance as Maleficent in a new trailer for the Disney movie.

Angelina Jolie is only featured in fleeting glances as the wicked witch Maleficent in a new trailer for the upcoming Disney movie, but her wicked cackle is chilling. She may be the best movie witch ever.

The new trailer follows by one day the release of the first movie poster showing Jolie in character.

She was only featured, however, peering over her shoulder, showing about half her face. The new trailer gives her about the same amount of exposure, although she does appear full-frontal in one quick scene.

Most of the clip focuses on Aurora played by Elle Fanning, who looks absolutely charming as the young princess. Aurora explains their strange relationship and toward the end of the clip coaxes Maleficent to come out of hiding.

“I know who you are,” says the pensive child. “You’ve been watching over me my whole life.”

“Don’t be afraid,” she says coaxing her to step into the light.

“I’m not afraid,” Maleficent replies.

“Then come out,” says Aurora.

“Then you’ll be afraid,” Maleficent says. Eerie good!

The movie provides a back story to the classic Brothers Grimm fair tale “Sleeping Beauty.”

Maleficent is a beautiful, pure-hearted woman, who grows up in an idyllic kingdom until an invading army upends the peace. Maleficent leads the opposition but a ruthless betrayal turns her pure heart into stone.

Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and curses his newborn infant Aurora. But later she realizes that Aurora may be the key to peace and happiness for the realm.
