Kanye West wants it all even though it don’t mean sh*t to him. Just one of the many contradictions that emerged at his concert last night (Nov. 20) as “the genius” went off on MTV for giving Bruno Mars “all the fu*king awards” and a bunch of other subjects.

Kanye was in concert at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center when he paused in the show to go on a 10-minute steam-of-consciousness rant.

His obsession with MTV began when he ripped the mic out of Taylor Swift’s hand at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards to protest her win for best music video.

This time around the focus was on Mars, which brought up contradiction No. 1. “I don’t give a fu*k about no TV show,” he bellowed. “But what I care about is if you’re an artist and you work hard as fu*k and the streets say that you deserve that sh*t.

“Then can’t no motherfu*king networks try to gas everybody up so they can sell some product with the prettiest motherfu*ker out,” he added in an apparent reference to Mars.

Which brings up contradiction No. 2. Kanye can brand the hell out of himself, with clothing lines and product endorsements, but let someone else try to sell a product and suddenly awards are being given for all the wrong reasons.

Mars has a three octave tenor voice and grew up in a family of musicians in Hawaii. He’s been compared to a mid-career Michael Jackson. He’s been tapped to provide the half-time show at Super Bowl XLVIII in February.

His second studio album Unorthodox Jukebox was the fastest selling album by a solo artist last year.

So it was just his time at the MTV VMAs this year. Kanye should be praising him, not burying him. But a “genius” deserves it all.
