Riley, 27, a seasoned actress and dancer, was matched with pro partner Derek Hough, the only four-time winner on the show.
She had all the elements to win when “Dancing With the Stars” began 11 weeks ago. She had a large fan base from “Glee,” professional experience and a compelling back story.
She was a crowd favorite from the get-to with her positive attitude and energetic dancing.
“I want to let women of all sizes known they can do whatever they put their mind to,” she said.
Amber also became the first African-American woman to win the Mirror Ball.
In the end, “DWTS” came down to fellow finalists Corbin Bleu, of “High School Musical” fame, and Jack Osbourne, who also appeared on GMA to talk about contests, the crazy rehearsals and where they plan to go from here.
Osbourne, the son of Sharon and hard metal rocker Ozzy Osbourne, suffers from multiple sclerosis. Osbourne should get special recognition since he was the only non-professional performer in the finals.
Riley and Hough took a victory dance, The Charleston on GMA. Even a minor wardrobe malfunction couldn’t stop them.
