Chris Brown’s legal fortunes took a turn for the worse today (Dec. 16) after a California judge revoked his probation. The judge ruled that Brown’s fight with a man in Washington, D.C. demonstrated he wasn’t complying with all laws as his probation stipulates.

The judge also ordered Brown, who was in court for a progress hearing, to give up his medical marijuana prescription as well. Ouch!

Although the R&B singer now faces possible jail time for assaulting Rihanna in 2009, he can probably avoid it by successfully completing rehab for anger management issues, according to multiple news sources.

In a positive sign, the judge indicated Brown was making progress in treatment and decided not to send him to jail immediately. The next progress hearing is scheduled for February.

Any incidents before then and the judge could throw him behind bars for up to five years.

Brown got a break in District of Columbia court Oct 28 after prosecutors reduced his felony assault charge to a misdemeanor. He was released without bail and has pleaded not guilty.

It’s unusual for a judge to take action on a pending case, since defendants are presumed innocent. But the judge concluded that the criminal complaint was sufficient to warrant voiding his probation.

Brown and his bodyguard Christopher Hollosy, 35, allege that the victim, Isaac Adam Parker, 20, of Beltsville, Md., and friends tried to get on the tour bus. The fracas broke out when they were prevented from boarding, according to Brown’s version of events.

Parker claims he was just trying to get in on a fan photo with Brown on the street, when the singer made a homophobic remark and said he felt like boxing. He then allegedly punched Parker in the face. Hollosy also allegedly struck the victim.
