The David Michôd-directed film was shot in January a year ago, and Rob spent more than a month in the harsh Australian outback to shoot scenes.
He later said the remote desert, harsh conditions and blistering heat changed him as an actor.
Now, we can see why in the short 22-second look at the film. The clip includes commentary by Michôd.
“I knew that I wanted to see him,” the director said of the former Twilight star. “We looked at quite a few people and a number, you know, of quite big names.
“Sure enough, Rob came in and was, straight away, my favorite,” the director said.
The movie unfolds in the near post-apocalyptic future where the land is lawless and controlled by roving gangs. Eric, played by Guy Pearce, has everything in his car when he is set upon by a gang intent on robbing him.
In the ensuing fight, Rob’s character, a naïve gang member named Reynolds, is wounded and left behind. Eric enlists him to help get back his possessions. They form an unwary alliance.
