The two actresses were chummy on the SAG red carpet, after Lawrence drew some heat for being a no-show at the Critics Choice Awards.
Nyong’o also won the critics award for supporting actress, but Lawrence won the Golden Globe in a similar category for a supporting actress in a dramatic role for “American Hustle.”
Nyong’o was luminescent in an pastel blue Gucci gown that featured an elaborate embroidered top.

She won the first award of the night 20th Screen Actors Guild Awards and took the stage minutes into the show. The role in Director Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave” is her debut in a major motion-picture feature.
She seemed well aware of the significance of the achievement.
“Being recognized by your fellow actors is an honor of the highest order,” she said. “Thank you, thank you, thank you, Steve McQueen.”
Nyong’o is best known as a Kenyan actress and film director, although she was born in Mexico City. She moved back to Kenya with her parents as an infant. Her father is a prominent university professor and politician.
She attended college in the United States, majoring in theater arts and graduated from Yale’s acting program in 2012. “12 Years a Slave” was her first role out of Yale.
