Christie Brinkley got a nasty 60th birthday present from her ex-husband Peter Cook. He blasted her in a scathing email for “gross exaggerations, revisionist history and self-serving dishonesty.” And, he mocked her million-dollar smile as well. Take that!
The couple has been going at it off-and-on ever since their bitter 2008 divorce, one of the Hamptons’ most acrimonious ever, and that’s saying a lot.
Of course, Christie invited the attack after she accused Cook of “abusing” their children following the divorce in a new magazine article.
No way Peter could let that stand.
He hit Christie where it hurt the most. He claiming she was “masking her self-indulgent behavior behind a fixed, disingenuous smile.” Oh no, not the smile!
Peter was irked after reading about Christie in the most recent issue of People magazine, which features her on the cover.
Among the “gross exaggerations” that got him going was this line: “[Christie] won a large settlement, especially after the revelation of Cook’s heavy hand on the three children.”
Really? Dragging the children into it? That’s a no, no, and Cook let her have it.
“That you could so blatantly lie about such a sacred trust to position yourself as a victim once again is disgraceful,’ he wrote in the email, which was conveniently leaked to gossip site radaronline.
“I didn’t think you could get any lower in your endeavors to stay relevant in the media than through your relentless trashing of the father of your children,” he added.
Brinkley is worth an estimated $80 million, according to Forbes magazine.
They were once darlings of the Hamptons social set. But their 12-year marriage exploded after Peter was caught in an affair with a teenage office girl. It was her fourth marriage; his second.
They had two children together, Sailor Lee, now 15 and adopted son Jack Paris Taubman.
Brinkley recently branded Cook a “narcissist” in a post on her Facebook page, but for a 60-year-old woman who still parades around like a twenty-something, that shoe probably fits her as well.
