Selena checked into the facility voluntarily in January, “but not for substance abuse,” her rep said in a statement.
The facility boasts that its “reputation is unmatched in the treatment of sexual disorders.”
It says that sex addicts often find themselves having compulsive thoughts about sex and excessively engaging in behaviors like phone sex, cybersex or pornography.
“As a result, sex addicts often are bombarded by feelings of guilt, shame and poor self-esteem. These feelings are most often accompanied by broken relationships, divided families and problems at work,” according to the facility’s web site.
Although Selena has a squeaky clean image, rumors circulated in Hollywood last year that she had a voracious sexual appetite.
A gossip site that focuses on the urban scene, mediatakeout, reported last March that Selena hooked up with multiple partners while filming the movie “Spring Breakers,” including rapper Wacka Flocka Flame, real name Juaquin Malphurs.
The reports, however, were quickly shotdown by Malphurs and Selena’s management.
The Meadows says it provides a safe, confidential and healing environment for sexual addiction treatment that helps patients “deal with the core issues that caused the addiction and to “heal the underlying cause of the addiction.”
Aside from substance abuse treatment, the facility also has programs to help patients deal with codependency, depression, love addictions, love avoidance, eating disorders and panic and anxiety disorders.
Selena had a major meltdown on stage after her performance in LA at KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball experiences technical problems. She cursed and stormed off stage.
Before her rehab stint, Gomez was reportedly partying hard and “experimenting with marijuana and prescription drugs, including Xanax and Ambien,” according to gossip site radaronline.
Ambien a sleeping aid, is notorious for its use as a drug to enhance sexual intercourse. Tiger Woods mistress Rachel Uchitel bragged about her Ambien-fueled sex with the golfer during his 2009 sex scandal.
