The latest Hollywood fad can only be described as celebrity lesbian chic.
The 26-year-old actress made the announcement during a speech at the Human Rights Campaign’s Time To THRIVE conference for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender youth.
Page’s sexuality is somewhat surprising because she’s dated a string of men. She said it was time for her to make a statement because she was “sick of lying by omission.”
“I’m here today because I am gay. And because maybe I can make a difference,” she said.
Hollywood Lesbian Chic: If You’re Out, You’re In
Here are notable celebrities in entertainment and media who have come out as bi-sexual or lesbians in Hollywood’s new permissive climate.

Kelly McGillis:McGillis, 56, was a bombshell opposite Tom Cruise in their movie Top Gun. She came out in 2009.
Page joins a long list of celebrities who have declared their homosexuality, recently.
The trend is so pronounced, it begs the question: Is it a true expression of sexuality? Or, are celebrities merely using lesbianism as one more way to express hipster coolness and nonconformity?
Page shot to stardom for her role in the offbeat, 2007 film “Juno.” She played a single teen who became pregnant, decides to have the baby and finds a childless couple to adopt it.
Page dated “True Blood” star Alexander Skarsgard, who co-stars with her in their new film “The East.” She also was linked to “Into the Wild” star Emile Hirsch.
“It’s weird because here I am, an actress, representing – at least in some sense – an industry that places crushing standards on all of us,” she said. “Not just young people, but everyone.”
“Standards of beauty. Of a good life. Of success. Standards that, I hate to admit, have affected me,” she added.
“You have ideas planted in your head, thoughts you never had before; that tell you how you have to act; how you have to dress and who you have to be. I have been trying to push back, to be authentic, to follow my heart, but it can be hard.”
Page’s feelings are no doubt honest and heartfelt, but hopefully the time is near when such outspoken expressions of one’s sexuality will be a thing of the past.
