Lara Stone CK Jeans Ad Banned in Australia (See it)

Lara Stone CK Jeans Ad Banned in Australia (See it) 1Calvin Klein Jeans, which has always pushed the edge with its racy ads, has been banned in Australia for a campaign featuring top Dutch model Lara Stone in a scene “suggestive of violence and rape.”

The nation’s Advertising Standards Bureau decided that the ad was demeaning to both men and women.

Stone, who is the face of the label, is pictured in the ad on her back with three men around her, seemingly pinning her down.

Her Calvin Klein jeans are no where to be seen, but her bare hip is visible and her top is pushed up to her breasts.

Two of the men are shirtless; one stands over her and the other holds her buy his hair. The third man sits below the model with his shirt open, smoking a cirgarette.

The advertisement sparked a storm of complaints from sexual assault and women’s groups after it was posted on billboards across the country.

“The Board considered that whilst the act depicted could be consensual, the overall impact and most likely impression is that the scene is suggestive of violence and rape,” a spokesman for the board said.

“The Board considered that the image was demeaning to women by suggesting that she is a plaything of these men.

“It also demeans men by implying sexualized violence against women,” the spokesman added.

Clinical psychologist Alison Grundy, who works with victims of sexual assault, told London’s Daily Mail that the use of sexual violence as a marketing tool was “a dangerous new low.”

‘If we continue to subject future generations of young men to great barrages of aggressive, misogynist, over-sexualized and violent imagery in pornography, movies, computer games and advertising, we will continue to see the rates of sexual violence against women and children that continue unabated today,” she said.
