Barbara Palvin was named GQ’s International Model of the Year in 2017, but she’s been a major force in modeling far longer than that. She was discovered when she was only 13 in her hometown of Budapest and never looked back. She’s self-taught, genuine and spontaneous. She also blew of Justin Bieber. Who can argue with that?
“I think I’m an honest, fun young woman who loves her family, her friends and her fans, she tells the Portuguese issue of GQ magazine.
“When I have a few days off, I always travel to Budapest to my family. I love spending my free time with family and friends. We like to spend quality time together,” she says in a rough translation to English.
Palvin’s international reputation is slod. She’s been the face of Chanel Beauty and an ambassador for L’Oreal Paris.
In the past year, her career continued to skyrocket.
She was the face of Acqua di Sky perfume for Giorgio Armani and was voted rookie of the year in her debut appearance in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
“I love all the jobs I’ve done so far, but if I had to highlight some of them, it would be my first Prada parade and my first contract as L’Oréal Paris ambassador. I love what I do today and I’m always waiting for the next opportunity. I love the most unexpected things in life. “
Palvin was in Lisbon, Portugal for the GQ Men of the Year gala and was smitten by the country.
“It’s unreal [to have won this prize here]. It is a tremendous honor to receive this incredible and beautiful prize. I’m grateful,” she said.
Palvin made rare tabloid headlines in 2013 when she and Bieber were spotted together at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
Bieber flirted openly with Palvin and tweeted a photo of them together, even though he was still dating Selena Gomez. They were spotted again the next day with a group of friends at a Broadway show, leading to speculation they were an item.
But Palvin quickly shot down the rumor.
“Last time im saying it. please calm down. there is nothing going on w him.i met him and did a pic w him. wouldnt u do the same?:)” she wrote on Twitter.
