Sophie Vlaming’s Year of Decadent, Primal Scream Fashion (photos)

Sophie Vlaming's Year of Decadent, Primal Scream Fashion (photos) 1Rising Dutch model Sophie Vlaming has become an icon of  decadence and dirty in fashion this year. She’s at her most feral in “Wild Skin” by Thiemo Sander for Soon International, Spring 2011.

Vlaming, 23, was born in Zeist, Netherlands and was spotted by model scout Wilma Wakker while shopping in Zara.

She started modeling at 14, and was eventually signed by DNA Model Management in New York and Viva Models in Paris.

She appeared on the runways in 2006 for Spring and Autumn fashion shows, including the spring/summer 2006 campaign for Balenciaga.

Sophie has also worked for Chanel, Givenchy, Dries van Noten, Marc Jacobs and Yohji Yamamoto.

While the lithe, 5-foot, 9-inch beauty is relatively unknown in the United States, she has had lots of exposure in Europe.

She has covered the Danish and French editions of Elle and Stiletto magazine, the Romanian edition of Harper’s Bazaar and the Italian edition of Marie Claire.

But this year, she’s gone native more than once.

For Jackie magazine, Africa was the backdrop for a shoot by Petrovsky and Ramone.

It was reminiscent of the 1985 film “Out of Africa,” with Robert Redford and Meryl Streep.

She went native in Sao Luis, Brazil for Jean-François Campos’ location shoot.

Vittoria Cerciello styled her in ensembles from Blumarine, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada.

For Australian magazine, Poster, Boris Ovini photographed her with decadent heavy, smudged eye makeup and tousled hair, courtesy of Karin Bigler, Ornella Jong and Elsa Durrens.

But her “Wild Skin” shoot evokes the most primal and animalistic visage. There is something about a feral woman that heightens sexuality.

Vlaming is featured with matted hair, feathers and dirty bronze skin, equal parts, vulnerable, savage and beautifully seductive.
