Charlize Theron plays a heavy-drinking, foul-mouthed free spirit in her latest film “Young Adult.” But she exudes nothing but sophistication and sensuality in a new photo shoot for Elle France. If you ask her, though, she’s more like the former than the latter.
Theron is known to hold a drink, swear like a sailor and tell dirty jokes. “Young Adult” Director, Jason Reitman, knew Theron was his match for “Young Adult” for that very reason.
“One of the first times we met she told me a really dirty joke and that’s when I knew I loved her,” Reitman said in a recent interview. “Honestly, a woman with a dirty sense of humour is probably the most attractive thing on earth.”

Her Elle shoot was photographed by Mark Seliger with styling by Hortense Manga. She wears Salvatore Ferragamo, Dior, Rochas and Louis Vuitton. Her soft curls were styled by Enzo Angileri and Shane Paish handled makeup.
Theron, 36, looks every inch the Hollywood sex siren. Although her background is anything but. She was born and raised in South Africa and her family is steeped in the country’s Dutch history. Danie Theron, her great-great uncle, was prominent in the 19th century Boer War.
She broke through in the late 1990s following roles in “The Devil’s Advocate” (1997), “Mighty Joe Young” (1998), and “The Cider House Rules” (1999). She won the best actress Oscar in 2003 for her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the film “monster.”
“Once you get past the ‘Oh she’s a stunning human being and kind of God’s intention when he created the word beauty’ you realise what really defines Charlize Theron in the realm of actors is she is brave and gutsy,” Reitman said.
Theron recently finished up shooting “Snow White & the Huntsman,” in the United Kingdom with Kristen Stewart. Theron plays the Wicked Queen to Stewart’s Snow White, and just may steal the film with her stunning portrayal. She dazzled in a recent trailer.
Not surprisingly, she began her career as a model and dancer. She studied at the Joffrey Ballet School until her career was ended by a knee injury. Check out her photos.
