Kate Upton does more than let her body do the talking in a new television commercial for DirectTV. But not much more. Her body just about says it all.
The fetching American model speaks just seven words in the 30 second spot and spends the rest of the time doing sexy glamour poses in a tiny aqua-colored string bikini.
Upton, 19, was photographed on a beach with white sand and blue water stretching as far as the eye can see. Although all eyes are on her. As the commercial spot opens, she flips her hair and purrs, “Go get DirectTV. Right now. I’ll wait.”
Upton’s rocket to fame also landed her in the middle of a heated debate over model weight, including allegations her iconic cover image was digitally altered to make her look thinner.
Upton, who is 5’10” tall, has always been known for her voluptuous curves. But new reports have surfaced that she almost didn’t make the cover because she gained weight last summer and was considered too “curvy.”
A few extra gym sessions and she was ready for the spotlight. But a comparison of the cover photo with recent shots of the model suggests that her image may have been digitally altered to make her look even thinner.
The model was born in Michigan and raised in Melbourne, Fla. “In Florida, people walk around in their flip-flops, bikinis and jean shorts, so I’m very comfortable in a bathing suit,” she said.
“I have had a great year,” she said. “For me, this is groundbreaking.”
Upton debuted in the 2011 edition, and was named Rookie of the Year.
She also appeared in Sports Illustrated’s 2012 Calendar, along with a dozen other models.
