Kristen Stewart captures the spirit of her new movie “On the Road,” in a new photo shoot with co-star Garrett Hedlund for the May issue of French fashion magazine Jalouse. The theme is Bohemian chic.
The timing couldn’t have been better. Kristen will be in France next month for the Cannes Film Festival, where her picture will be in competition for the coveted Palme d’Or award.

The movie is an adaptation a book by the same name by ’50s Beat Generation writer Jack Kerouac. It charts his travels across America one summer with a cast of characters, who are looking for alternatives to the conformist and uptight era.
Jazz, poetry and experimenting with drugs were the hallmarks of the Beats.
The book became the beat bible and set the stage for the counterculture and hippie movement that followed in the 1960s. It ultimately touched off a social revolution. All of the cast felt a special attachment to the characters, according to Stewart.
“We felt great love for our characters, and we wanted people to love them as much as we did,” sell tells the magazine.
“We knew so many little details about the characters, their lives, that we had aid in playing the difficult scenes. They were with us,” she added.
Kristen plays Marylou, the on again-off again wife of Hedlund’s character Dean Moriarty, the fictional version of Kerouac’s friend and muse Neal Cassady. Sam Riley plays Kerouac’s fictional character Sal Paradise.
Viggo Mortensen, Tom Sturridge, Amy Adams, Alice Braga, Elisabeth Moss, Kirsten Dunst. Walter Salles and José Rivera also star in the movie.
“I wish I could be as excited as these guys were. I would love to be like this every day,” says Hedlund of the characters.
