Mary Kate, Ashley Olsen Called ‘Trolls’ Over Fur Backpack

Mary Kate, Ashley Olsen Called 'Trolls' Over Fur Backpack 1Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have joined Kim Kardashian on the tenth circle of animal rights hell. The twin fashion moguls are under fire for producing a fur backpack for the stylish hiker. The cost $16,000 and an untold number of animals.

Animal rights group, PETA, also known as People for Ethical Treatment of Animals, issued a statement today (June 28), calling the twins, ahem, “trolls.”

Ouch.

The twins are pixie-like at around 5-feet tall, and presumably fully grown at 26. It might have helped if they laid off the Parliaments. But too late for that.

PETA, which has become rather militant of late, did not mince words in describing the duo. “If it looks like a troll and acts like a troll, it’s probably a Trollsen Twin – or someone wearing one of their new $16,000 totes, which are made from the fur and skins of innocent animals,” it said.

But the group didn’t stop at name-calling; it also took a swipe at their designing abilities. “What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value,” it said.

“Sadly, it’s the foxes, calves, and alligators – who often have the fur ripped off them while they are still conscious and able to feel pain – who pay the dearest price.”

The twins have their own fashion label called “The Row,” and have been singled out by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (DFDA) for their work.

Fame chaser Rachel Zoe called the bag “next season’s staple” on her Web site, according to London’s Daily Mail. In a total suck up, the sycophant euphemistically describes the material as “fuzzy texture.” Actually, the bag is made of black shiny calf skin, slate shiny alligator and black alligator.

The Olsens have also produced a matching fur coat called the “Dropman Coat Multi.” If you wear it, or their ridiculous bag, beware of crazed-looking people with bags of flour.
