Victoria’s Secret has suddenly realized it has a marketing bonanza on is hands. Its annual swimwear catalog is as hot, if not hotter than Sports Illustrated’s annual swimsuit issue. And they’re selling the suits to boot. Why not go all out?
The Victoria’s Secret Swim 3 Catalog is filled with some of the hottest models in the business, all clad in the latest swimwear fashions, including the tiniest of bikinis Both men and women will be anxiously awaiting for this in the mail — if for different, ahem, reasons.
Not since Victoria’s Secret started airbrushing nipples on the models in its lingerie catalog has a publication designed to sell products generated such interest.
The new bikini-filled book features top models Miranda Kerr and Alessandra Ambrosio as well as an assortment of new faces, inlcuding Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Lindsay Ellingson, Emanuela de Paula, and SI’s own Brooklyn Decker.
South African model Candice Swanepoel anchors the Catalog cover.
Besides a controversial topless bikini, the Summer 2010 swim collection includes string bikinis, one-pieces with creative cutouts, lots of bandeau tops, as well as asymmetrical styles and ruffle detailing.
“I love the traditional triangle bikini or a Brazilian bottom!” Kerr told StyleList. “I love the super hot, bright neon colors that Victoria’s Secret has this season; they look great on the beach and lounging next to the pool.”
Kerr raised eyebrows because she appeared unnaturally thin last year, but says she’s willing to accept the criticism.
“As soon as you step into the public eye you need to take responsibility for the people you are influencing,” she says.
“Body image is something that the majority of young women struggle with and I do think it is important that models are seen to be healthy and at a weight that works for their body type.”
