Kristen Stewart has always considered herself an actress first, which is why she feels she has an “odd relationship” with fashion. In a newly released video, she talks about working with Balenciaga on her first fragrance campaign.
Stewart sat down and talked about her foray into fashion in January while shooting with renowned fashion photographer Steven Meisel in New York City. Her interview was taped an released today by the fashion brand.
Kristen starts by introducing herself, as if she needed one. She’s internationally known for “Twilight,” and has been a hot tabloid headline for the last two months because of her cheating scandal with “Snow White and the Huntsman Director” Rupert Sanders.
There were rumors for a time that she might lose her Balenciaga contract because of the negative publicity, but the brand confirmed she would continue repping its Florabotanica fragrance.
“I’ve never done anything like this, so I’m pretty proud,” she says. “It’s an odd relationship us actors get to have with fashion.”
Indeed, Stewart, 22, has had an anti-fashion reputation, more comfortable in jeans, tee-shirts and converse sneakers than Prada or Dolce & Gabbana. But after several high fashion editorial shoots, it’s clear Stewart has what it takes to be a fashion icon.
“It’s not something I ever imagined myself fitting into,” she says. “I’m new to it, but I’ve been watching it for so long.”
She goes on to praise the brand because of its boldness. Here what Balenciaga Fashion Director Nicholas Ghesquiere has to say about the brand and Kristen below. And click here to follow TheImproper on Twitter for more Kristen Stewart updates.
