Jake Gyllenhaal’s whirlwind romance with country crooner Taylor Swift has ended just as quickly as it began. It’s hard to see what the two had in common in the first place.
“They’re over,” a source told People about the short-lived relationship. “It ended last month.”
One unanswered question is who dropped who?
Swift may have been the moving party. She told Allure magazine: “I have a phobia about being in the wrong relationship. So as soon as I establish that it’s not the right one, I don’t want to waste their time,” she said.
Gyllenhaal, 30, was spotted spending time with Swift, 21, in October, both here in New York and in Swift’s hometown of Nashville.
Although they never officially confirmed their relationship, Swift was also at Gyllenhaal’s side in London when he was promoting his film, “Love and Other Drugs,” co-starring Anne Hathaway.
He also reportedly bought her a $100,000 bracelet for her 21st birthday.
More sightings occurred in Los Angeles and there were reports that Gyllenhaal took Swift to meet his family and sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Then all of a sudden, they were apart.
Thanksgiving was the last time they were spotted together.
Swift celebrated the New Year alone in Nashville, while Gyllenhaal, was in New York. He was seen alone at the closing party for Broadway’s “Fela!” the following day.
Although they seemed like an odd couple from the outset, Swift was reportedly “smitten” with the actor, and he liked her “sweet, low-key and very easy” personal style, according to Us Weekly.
Gyllenhaal has previously dated Kristen Dunst and Reese Witherspoon.
Swift previously dated singer-songwriter, John Mayer, and her recent hit song “Dear John,” documented their breakup.
No reason was given her split from Gyllenhaal, but we’re more than likely to find out on Swift’s next album. The singer says she has no qualms about drawing inspiration for her songs from her relationships.
Watch out Jake!
