Although the movie unfolds in the far future, power still rests in those who control the national media.
No one knows that better than President Snow. He uses Peeta and Johanna as props to shore up his carefully staged propaganda spectacular.
“Throughout this great nation, never have we been more unified. Because now more than ever, Panem is speaking with one voice,” he confidently intones. “The Capitol and districts are bound together in solidarity.”
Except, they aren’t.
Just when the beautifully staged production reaches its high-point, the broadcast goes black and a statically image cuts in.
It’s Beetee Latier (Jeffrey Wright). He’s hacked the system with the real low-down on Panem. The Mockingjay lives,” he cackles before going dark.
While Peeta has been co-opted by the President, Katness (Jennifer Lawrence) is leading the rebellion, if reluctantly.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1” hits theaters Nov. 21. Until then, check out the teaser below and check out more at the Capitol Ministry of Information Web Site.
