Mia Wasikowska looks ghostly in a new trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s “Crimson Peak” and she’s the normal one. Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain spook up the Gothic, super-natural horror film with chilling effect.

But the real star is the haunting Gothic mansion where the movie takes place.

This is no Downton Abbey. The crumbling English manor house is located in a desolate mountainous area in northern England.

The 19th century period picture, considered del Toro’s “ultimate masterpiece,” focuses on Wasikowski’s character, Edith Cushing, a young writer.

She’s draw into the mysterious web of Sir Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston), a “charming hero with a mysterious past,” according to the movie’s synopsis.

A family tragedy drives her from her childhood love into the arms of the mysterious Sir Thomas. He whisks her to his family home in Cumbria, a predominantly rural region in the northwest corner England abutting the angry Irish Sea.

Lady Lucille Sharpe (Chastain), Sir Thomas’s deranged sister, is there to greet her. So is Dr. Alan McMichael (Charlie Hunnam). He’s “quiet, shy, thoughtful kind of stoic, taciturn, very learned guy who is madly in love with Edith, according to the synopsis.

The film has a definite steam punk vibe.
