Gifford, 21, is getting by on more than her celebrity pedigree. She has almost a dozen film and television roles to her credit.
“The Gallows is her biggest project yet. She stars with Pfeifer Brown, Ryan Shoos, Reese Mishler, Alexis Schneider and Price T. Morgan.
Written and directed by Travis Cluff and Chris Lofing, the picture is about a small town high school. A group of students get together for a revival of a 1993 school play, during which a student died in a horrific accident.
The movie is set in 2013, on the 20th anniversary of the tragedy, and the students think they’re honoring their dead colleague. But some pranksters break into the auditorium to have a little fun with the show.
They start to vandalize the set–big mistake. As the film synopsis notes, they “soon discover that some things are better left alone.”
You may recall that Kathy Lee talked ad nauseum about her kids, Cody and Cassidy, when she was Regis Philbin’s sidekick. But they’re grown now and appear to have survived their fawning mother and their well-publicized upbringing, hopefully without too much therapy.
Cody is a budding film writer and director and Cassidy is pursuing her dream of acting. “She’s been studying since she was young girl at classes and privately and she’s very serious about it,” mom said in a recent interview.
The celebrity connection was enough to get her a brief write-up in People. Try to top that struggling actresses.
“The Gallows” will be released domestically, July 10.
