Paul Rudd proves size really doesn’t matter in a new television spot for his upcoming movie, “Ant Man,” another in the Marvel stable of superhero features that puts a twist on the definition of super. It’s also a story about redemption.

The film was directed by Peyton Reed, with a screenplay by Edgar Wright, Joe Cornish and Adam McKay.

Rudd, not only stars but gets a co-writing script credit. He’s joined by Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Wood Harris, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian and Michael Douglas.

Rudd’s character, Scott Lang, is a petty thief until he meets up with Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) who has invented a suit that allows humans to change to the size of an ant.

As part of the process, they gain the strength, speed and agility of the insect. Ants, as you know, have super strength in proportion to their size.

Pym unveils his “soldier the size of an insect” at a meeting of military heads to show off what he calls “the ultimate secret weapon.”

Ant-Man doesn’t waste any time getting into action. He must protect humankind from Yellowjacket (Stoll), who possesses the next generation ant man suit, but has far more evil uses in mind.

Hope (Lilly), Pym’s daughter, is also caught up in the drama, and Lang must also protect her and her scientist father.

The picture is bill as the “next evolution” in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, which includes such superheros as Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, the Hawk and a slew of others. The first trailer was released in April. See it here.

Ant-Man hits theaters, July 17.
