Chris Evans is whittled down to a 90-pound weakling in the new Captain America trailer, but it’s all due to CGI. He’s also shown flexing his muscles in the Marvel-Paramount film adaptation of the iconic comic book.
The studio is counting on the film to be one of its summer blockbusters. It will hit theaters in July, with plenty of competition to contend with.
Marvel’s “Thor” and “X-Men: First Class,” which already has a built-in fan base will be competing for theatergoers. So the pressure is on to make America a standout flick.
Evans plays Steve Rogers, who goes to sign up for the army during the big one, World War II. One look from the doctor and it’s “rejected.”
“Just give me a chance,” he says.
“Sorry, son,” the doc replies.
But thank’s to some good-old-fashioned American know how, he’s transformed into a human fighting machine.
The two-minute, 30-second clip is the first full-length trailer for the movie and is made up of most of the scenes from previous snippets.
But it provides some insights into Captain America’s creation.
What’s more, Tony Stark’s father, Howard Stark, (that’s right, from “Iron Man”) has a hand in the experimental project.
Nothing like a little cross promotion.
This, of course, is not the war your grandfather fought. The trailer shows flashes of high-tech weapons.
The Howling Commandos are also featured in the clip, using some of those powerful gadgets.
The scene includes Montgomery “Union Jack” Falsworth (J.J. Feild), James “Bucky” Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Captain America, and Dum Dum Dugan (Neal McDonough).
Derek Luke is Howling Commando Gabe Jones, and Kenneth Choi is will play squad member, Jim Morita, according to MTV but neither made the clip.
